1. What is Data Recovery?   top of page
A service for saving data stored on damaged / failed media, such as magnetic disks and tapes. Salvaging data is necessary when the media fails, for whatever reason, and data needs to be recovered. TR LOGIC specializes in data recovery services and our certified specialists and engineers can often recover a surprisingly high percentage of the data from damaged media.
2. How can I prevent data loss?   top of page
Make multiple backups and store a copy of your data offsite. The purpose of backing up is to protect your data. However you must also make sure to protect your backups from damage, in case of a fire or disaster.
Use reliable protection against power surges and spikes with a quality UPS System.Uninterruptible power supplies protect your computer and data during a power surge or failure. It is also important to make sure that the spare battery in the UPS gives you ample time to close down and save your documents for a shutdown of your system properly so not to lose any files or damage any hardware components.
Avoid moving your computer when it is in operation.
When a computer system is running, the hard drive read/write heads are floating just microns over the platter surface. Therefore moving the computer system may cause the read/write heads to touch the platters (crash) causing severe damages to the surface. This is not just true for Desktop systems but for also for Laptops as well.
Avoid extreme room temperatures.
Heat kills everything, including your hard drive, so your Computer Systems should be in a cool environment that does not over exceed room temperature. Server systems should be in a very cool environment (less than 70 degrees) and constantly monitored for internal and external temperature. Sudden rises and drops in temperature must be avoided.
Maintenance is key.
Conducting routine maintenance such as cleaning of your hard disk drive and updating anti-virus software packages regularly will offer some additional protection. It is also important to regularly defragment your hard disk drive, remove temporary and unused files, and use a scandisk utility to perform routine maintenance checks on the hard drive‘s health. This will help to keep your hard disk drive in top form.

3. What Caused the Failure?   top of page
Media failure and data loss can be the result of a variety of events and circumstances, some of which include human error, viruses, sabotage, corruption, natural degradation of media and environmental disasters such as fire and water damages..

4. My hard drive has crashed, what should I do?   top of page
First and foremost, if you consider the data to be important, critical or irreplaceable, the number one rule on avoiding data loss is to shut down the computer, remove power from the device and immediately consult with a professional. Leaving your system running or using utilities in the case of a physical failure will likely cause more damage to the hard drive.

For a FREE consultation and quote, you should contact our staff for instructions on how to best handle your particular situation.

5. Are there cases when data cannot be recovered?   top of page
Unfortunately YES.
There are occasions when physical damage to the hard drive's internal components are so severe that the data cannot be salvaged. This typically happens when the platters of a hard drive have been physically scratched and scraped by the read/write head/arm. This type of damage, though rare, is often the result of the client or inexperienced technician having tampered with a failed hard drive by either continuously power-cycling or attempting to recover the data on their own using basic utilities. Such crude procedures, almost invariably, cause critical damage to the logical structure of the data itself and/or the internal physical components of the hard drive. TR LOGIC maintains an industry leading success rate, which assures the best probability of recovering your data. So even if you've been told by "so-and-so-datarecovery" that your data is not recoverable, we offer a second and assuredly more reliable alternative.

8. What does the free evaluation include?   top of page
In order to provide an accurate cost estimate for data recovery on any device, it is necesarry to determine the issues which has caused the device to fail. Once these issues are determined, TR LOGIC will provide, at no charge, a written flat rate estimate for the cost of recovering your data. If the estimate is approved, we will continue with recovery process. If the estimate is not approved, there is no service charge, simply pay a $10 for return shipping.

9. How long does the evaluation take?   top of page
On average, the evaluation takes 1-3 days. Most evaluations and estimates for hard drives are provided within two working days. Flash drive devices evaluations take 1-2 days. The nature of the recovery and type of device plays a role in the evaluation time. For time critical recoveries, please notify us in advance.

10. What Is customer controlled billing?   top of page
At TR LOGIC, we guarantee no hidden fee's or unauthorized charges. The customer is made aware of any possible fee's and must authorize all charges BEFORE they can be billed. Our free evaluation service provides an exact cost estimate for the customer before any work is done. The customer can accept or refuse the quote without financial penalty or charge. Customers are responsible for return shipping cost's.
11. What is the data recovery process?   top of page
1- Submit device for Free Evaluation
2- Evaluation is performed and customer contacted with results and flat rate cost estimate for recovery.
3- Recovery is completed and recovery results are submitted to customer for approval.
4- After recovery approval, payment is concluded and data is returned to customer.

For more details on the recovery process, please contact us via phone or email. You will receive a prompt response.

12. How long will it take to complete my recovery?   top of page
Standard turn around time for recovery's is 7 to 9 days for most recovery devices and scenarios. This applies to single hard devices. RAID arrays and extreme circumstances, such as parts availability may sometimes take longer. Expedite data recovery services are available for a quicker turn around time. Please call for details.

13. What is the cost for data recovery services ?   top of page
Data recovery cost's vary by both the type of device and cause of failure. Logical recovery services for a hard drive cost as little as $199, whereas a physical (invasive) recovery on a hard drive begins at $349. Average cost for hard drive recovery, given all types and scenarios, is an average of $700 to $800. A free evaluation and flat rate quote allows the customer to know the exact cost's ahead of time. 14. What is No Data No Charge ?   top of page
Simply put, a customer does not pay the data recovery service estimate unless TR LOGIC is succesful with the recovery and the customer is satisfied with the recovery results. If the data recovery results in only partial data being recovered, the customer has the option to refuse the recovery service charges.
